The Misfit Atom is a compact and lightweight, yet strong clamp-on matte box designed for lenses with an outer diameter of up to 114 mm. It allows the use of up to two 4 x 4″ or 4 x 5.65″ filters without the use of filter cartridges, and provides a wide field of view that is suitable for many wide-angle lenses even when two filters are mounted.
The removable flexible hood is designed to retain its shape even in extreme temperatures. The total weight of the matte box with the hood is less than 7 ounces (approximately 198 grams) and without the hood is only 3.5 ounces (approximately 99 grams). This light weight makes the matte box suitable for use with gimbals and Steadicams, and the removable hood makes it an ideal choice for aerial filming.
